Born X Raised Teams Up with Indigenous Enterprise

Los Angeles-based brand Born X Raised continues to celebrate Indigenous culture through clothing, film, and special events, a mission-driven by community. Founded in 2013, Spanto and co-founder 2Tone have built more than an apparel company but a haven where individuals can bask in their truth. Calling attention to accurate narratives of Native history and culture, this awaited partnership advances their goal through music, fashion, and dance.

"[Spanto] His ethics and roots are very similar to Indigenous Enterprise. He wants to uplift Indigenous representation in a positive way. He wants to give back and help out where he can. I strongly believe this collaboration is going to bring Indigenous representation to people all over the world & letting them know that we're still here and thriving." Kenneth Shirley explains. Indigenous Enterprise has gained international recognition from performances, including a 2016 production with the Black Eyed Peas to a stunning Sydney Opera House presentation in 2018 — bringing together broad audiences. With a fullhouse at the CalArts' downtown center for contemporary arts, the dance troupe sent vibrations throughout the venue, insight into traditions such as Powwows. A family affair for Spanto, where he witnessed his father and sister dance, this collaboration is more than a moment, but a culture that will never fade.

This has real meaning and this is my whole life story.

Stimulating youth through social support, Born X Raised will donate a portion of the merch sales to Unity, a Native organization providing support to North American Indigenous youth.
