Canada Goose: Live in the Open

“Live in the open” serves as Canada Goose’s brand ethos. The apparel brand has long supported artistic communities through powerful collaborations that allow each artist’s work to shine. For this particular collaboration, Canada Goose enlisted writer, activist, and exceptionally creative artist Kimberly Drew to bring the vision to life and display what it means to live in the open, embracing your identity without hesitation.

“My work sits at the intersection of art and design,” says Kimberly, “thinking about ways to archive, uplift, center, and amplify marginalized voices that sit across a bunch of different cultural spaces.” But Kimberly was keenly aware that this amplification would be strengthened exponentially in numbers, so she called on some other fellow New York artists to really help the message stick.

With the assistance of Dominican mural painter Soraya Marquez (aka Indie184), figurative painter Bianca Nemelc, and Puerto Rican, multidisciplinary artist COVL, magic was conjured. Kimberly, COVLIndie184, and Bianca curated kaleidoscopic murals which were displayed around NYC's Soho neighborhood, home to the brand's flagship location. Through abstract, multi-textured flourishes of expression, every mural displays the different ways each artist lives freely — in the open — and pushes onlookers to imagine a world where free expression is natural and welcomed.
