G-STAR RAW x HENK SCHIFFMACHER
Made from deep indigo but slightly green Higa Denim, actual age is mimicked. The unique stitching featured on the dungarees references various styles of tattooing, like ancient tribal tattoos and also the tattoos Schiffmacher has on his own body. Reinforced denim pads are stitched onto the upper legs, and a zipper stretches up the front of the garment. Hardware on the cinch in the back and on the shoulder straps allows for adjusting height and width to fit each wearer comfortably.
The artist wears overalls every day because “the garment allows you to move freely, allowing you to practice your trade. As a result, the origin of the overall may be traced back to workman’s clothes and the history of the profession that I do. I’ll wear them till they’re gone,” Schiffmacher says. The iconic tattoo artist has drawn countless stars from Kurt Cobain to Lady Gaga to Amsterdam to get his mark on their bodies, and he owns one of the largest private collections of tattoo ephemera in the world.
