Candyman

August 27th, 2021

Respectfully, “don’t say his name.” This reprise of the 1992 film has an insane cast with an intense new take on the killer. Directed by Nia DaCosta, this version stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, and Colman Domingo. This new interpretation still includes it’s star players from the older versions, Vanessa Estelle Williams, and of course, because it wouldn’t be Candyman without him -- Tony Todd.

This is Justin Chon’s sixth feature he’s directed, angling on the double consciousness of being a Korean adoptee living in the Lousiana bayou. Not only is Justin directing but hes starring as Antonio LeBlanc who’s world is crashing down because of the possibilities of being deported. Seems like this film might leave a couple people crying.

Directed by Denis Villenueve, Dune is a powerful look into conquering fears and great destinies.

The French Dispatch

October 22nd, 2021

Okay so, two things. Wes Anderson. And a Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Benicio del Toro, Arien Brody, Owen Wilson, Saoirse Ronan, Elisabeth Moss, Frances McDormand, and Timothee Chalamet cast. This what you call a superb cast. Anyway, The French Dispatch, with it’s pastel lighting and gentle angles, written by Roman Coppola, Hugo Guinness, and Jason Schwartzman alongside Anderson is a story about a love letter to journalists set in the most beloved and fictional 20th-century French city. With already great reviews from Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic -- we’re marking our calendars for this one.

Jackass Forever

October 22nd, 2021

“Concussions aren’t great. But as long as you have them before 50, it’s cool.” The MVP duo of Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville plus Jasper, Chris Pontius, and Jason Acuña are coming back together to do some dumb shit. Not only will there be cannonballs into the water, faceplants into grass, and seat combustions but there will be special guests such as Machine Gun Kelly, and Tyler the Creator.
